Change your username

Your username is the address people use to reach your profile — for example thingstohave.app/your-username. Change it any time in your account settings.

When you sign up, we assign you a random username. Change it once to something you and your friends will recognise. Once you've picked your own, keep it — changing it again breaks your links.

Your old links will stop working. Your profile and list links contain your username. If you change a username you've already given out, every old link — in bookmarks, in a chat, or in a post — will stop reaching you. The links don't update on their own, and there's no way to notify anyone who has them, so you'll have to reshare your new links yourself.

How to change it

  1. Open Settings and go to the Account section.
  2. Type your new username in the Username field.
  3. Click Change.

You may need to confirm it's you — with a passkey or a one-time code sent to your email — and you can change your username at most once every 7 days.

Username requirements

  • Lowercase letters, numbers, dots and underscores only
  • Between 1 and 30 characters long
