Make a birthday list
A birthday list is just your wishlist, ready for the people who want to celebrate you. Set your birthday, add a few things you'd love, and your mutual friends will know exactly what to get — and when.
Set your birthday
- Open Settings.
- Find the Birthday section and pick your month and day, then tap Save. There is no year — only the day and month are stored.
- To remove it later, tap Clear in the same section.
Your birthday is private by default: only you and your mutual friends (people you follow who also follow you back) can see it on your profile. One-way followers, strangers, and logged-out visitors never see it.
Build your wishlist
- Go to your profile at
thingstohave.app/your-username. - Add the things you'd love to receive, and put them in a public list so friends can see them.
- Not sure how it looks to others? Use What others see? on your profile to preview it as a visitor.
What your friends get
On your birthday, each of your mutual friends receives a friendly email pointing them to your wishlist — one email per birthday friend. You also get a cheerful happy-birthday note from us.
Two weeks before your birthday, we send you a gentle reminder to fill out your wishlist, so there's still time to add what you want.
Turning emails off
Every birthday email has an unsubscribe link that turns birthday emails off without logging in. You can also toggle them any time under Settings → Privacy → Birthday emails. This is separate from any marketing email preferences.
